Behavior - We promote the Love and Logic parenting system that promotes students making positive choices. Some school districts offer Love and Logic parent classes. We encourage Community Day School teachers to attend with parents.

Key points to keep in mind. The following thoughts are designed to give you food for thought as you develop your Community Day School philosophy.

Students own their behavior. Parents of At-Risk students have the same goals that teachers do. The great majority of parents send their children to school with the desire that they have a good day, do their work and stay out of trouble.
Teachers, Administrators, Parents and Students are human, all of us will make mistakes. Be honest, even in the face of consequences. Teach by example. Call parents and apologize if you blow it.
Students will usually bend the truth to stay out of trouble. Most Community Day School students are masters at manipulating parents and teachers to work against each other. Don't fall into this trap.
Academic success will lead to a better self image which will lead to being a successful person.
Encourage children to learn to trust their parents with the truth about their behavior, continue to encourage the lifelong relationship between parent and child.
The strongest teachers should teach At-Risk students.
Students want to succeed. Community Day School may be the chance to make the difference in a students life.
